About me

Hello, my name is Katerina Magkou. I am a certified pediatric physiotherapist (Bobath – NDT) with an educational background and long-standing clinical experience in pediatric physiotherapy and Manual Therapy since 2001.

Since 2006, I have been working in private practice, offering home-based physiotherapy services for infants and children in the wider Thessaloniki area.

I strongly believe in a collaborative approach that includes parents, physicians, teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physical education professionals, in order to address the individual therapeutic needs of each child.

My sessions are educational and playful, aiming to build trust and a sense of safety for both the child and the parents — an essential condition for effective therapeutic progress.

I have worked with children in a variety of settings, including:

  • private therapy centers
  • educational and school environments
  • home-based therapy
  • early intervention programs
  • sports-related programs

My professional background is built on solid academic training and continuous postgraduate education in pediatric physiotherapy. I hold a degree in Physiotherapy from the School of Health and Welfare Professions of the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) in Education and Creative Learning, focusing on interventions for children with Developmental Coordination Disorder. I have specialized in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (Bobath – NDT), Early Intervention for Infants (Baby Bobath) and Manual Therapy (Kaltenborn–Evjenth concept). In addition, I have attended numerous specialized seminars in sensory integration, dyspraxia and taping techniques.

I remain committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring that every child receives evidence-based, safe and individualized care.

I have worked as a pediatric physiotherapist in a range of clinical and educational settings, gaining experience in supporting children with motor difficulties, developmental disorders and neurological conditions. My professional experience includes private practice, special education settings, physiotherapy clinics, rehabilitation centers and collaboration with educational and therapeutic organizations. Alongside clinical work, I have been active in education as a lecturer in topics related to massage therapy, neurological rehabilitation and kinesiology, contributing to knowledge-sharing within the healthcare field.
My professional activity also extends to adaptive sports for individuals with disabilities. I am an International Classifier for Athletes with Disabilities in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Nordic Skiing and Triathlon. Since 2021, following appointment by the International Triathlon Federation, I have served as Head Classifier, coordinating athlete classification procedures for international competitions, including preparation for the Paralympic Games. I have participated as a classifier and healthcare professional in world, European and regional championships, as well as Paralympic Games (Turin, Sochi, Rio, Paris), gaining extensive international experience in rehabilitation and para-sport.
Volunteering is an important part of my professional identity. I have offered voluntary pediatric physiotherapy services in public and community settings, supporting children with motor challenges and their families. My volunteer work includes collaboration with pediatric organizations and initiatives that promote equal access to rehabilitation and healthcare. For me, pediatric physiotherapy is not only a profession, but a responsibility towards children and society.
